Founded in 1978, the mission of Barnstable Academy in Oakland, New Jersey, is to maximize the potential of each student in grades 5-12 by providing a high-quality, academically oriented education in which each student can be recognized and supported.

Barnstable students have often been profoundly dissatisfied with their previous school situations, frequently because it was too large and impersonal. At Barnstable Academy these students find a welcoming culture and an individualized educational program that is multifaceted and diverse rather than a “one size fits all” program designed for the masses.
