Located in Tampa, Florida, Tampa Day School (TDS) is a college-prep private K-8 school for children with learning differences. Teachers and staff are thoroughly trained to respond to each child’s individual learning needs and style. Students work toward the mastery of skills rather than focusing solely on an academic grade.
Students who come to Tampa Day School often have challenges such as low motivation, organizational problems, ADD/ADHD, mild anxiety disorder, auditory processing difficulties, low self-esteem, or a history of underachievement. TDS students benefit from small class sizes (12-14 students per class), where the teaching approach is designed to fit their learning style. Carefully selected teachers and staff have the talent, knowledge, and sensitivity to effectively teach skills and build self-confidence in children who previously had negative school experiences.
Tampa Day School employs a proven educational approach that includes un-graded classrooms with individualized assignments (K-4) and an extensive one-on-one tutoring program. Personal responsibility for academic success is encouraged.
When reflecting on TDS's partnership with AEG, Lois Delaney, Head of School, said, "Tampa Day School made a decision to partner with AEG because of the integrity and honesty of all the members of the AEG team. We were impressed when we first met them, but with each subsequent meeting, we felt more and more confident that they possessed not only the business expertise (based on their past track record) and sound financial backing, but also had a true passion for quality education. This was a great match for our passion for our own mission at TDS, and we felt that merging with them would only add to our 38 year successful history. Our experience since we partnered with AEG has not only met, but exceeded my expectations."
