Our primary goal in opening our new school is to ensure that students receive the highest quality education in a safe, nurturing environment that promotes academic, social, and personal growth. We searched for many months to find a facility that best met our requirements, and found one in The Lakes. This site requires significant renovations in order to develop a campus that meets our vision and can fully serve every student.
To date, there are over 50 families that have expressed an interest in enrolling at Lexis Prep. Unfortunately, the actual enrollment for the school is not yet sufficient to support the investment needed to renovate the site and bring the building up to code. We remain committed to opening this school in Las Vegas. With an extra year to build awareness within the community, we know that we will continue to find families who need a school like Lexis and will open with a fully renovated, customized site in August 2011.
Although delayed, the original plan for the school will move forward. Roy Parker will continue as Head of School, spending the next year preparing to open Lexis Prep. He will meet with local professionals, develop curriculum, hire outstanding teachers and staff, and spend time working with the other Lexis locations in Scottsdale and Tampa. We know that Lexis Prep will flourish under Roy’s leadership and experience in educating children with learning differences.
We are truly grateful for the support of so many families and local professionals, and hope that they will remain a part of our growing community. Although it is unfortunate that we need to delay the opening, we know that it is in the best interest of everyone concerned and hope it is understood what a difficult realization this has been for us. We continue to hear from many parents and professionals that Lexis Prep will fill an important need in the community, and we are excited to bring our vision to Las Vegas in August 2011.
We want Lexis Prep to best serve the needs of the Las Vegas community and are always open to input on how we might do this. We realize that this announcement may raise questions or concerns, and we encourage you to contact Roy Parker at any time.
Sincerely,
Walt Karniski Todd Avis
